Here are a few tips about equality in your workplace.

  1. Have you got an equality policy in place? That’s a really good starting point for you.
  2. When was the last time you did a peer review across your organisation and had a look to make sure that you’re treating everybody fairly regardless of gender, disability, ethnicity, anything like that?
  3. Succession planning. Does everybody get the same development opportunities? Do they get access to the same training? Can they progress? Are promotion opportunities available to everyone else?

Three really simple things as a starting point for you.

It’s also important to ensure your managers understand your policy and apply it from your recruitment process right through to your exit process. Getting it wrong can prove extremely costly.
