Having worked for one of the UK’s largest HR Outsourcing companies, Lisa knew businesses didn’t want faceless call centres and generic advice so built CUBE’s offering to ensure personalised service, with each client getting a dedicated HR expert.
We provide expert HR services for companies that are not large enough to have their own HR Department, but also partner with many organisations that do for additional support. From contracts of employments and handbooks, advice on disciplinary issues, grievances and sickness, to the full employee experience of on-boarding, performance, reward, recognition, succession planning and full people strategy.
Our smallest client has 2 staff and our largest has 1500. We also undertake strategic work for global businesses and have provided project support for companies with 30,000 employees.
We’ve won multiple awards for our personalised support and customer service, and clients tell us we are a breath of fresh air.
After 21 years in the HR sector Lisa set up CUBE in 2017 after getting fed up with the corporate world’s lack of people focus.
We really like people, we love the complexity of employment law and we are fabulous at finding solutions.

Lisa Sourbutts
Hi there, I’m Lisa, founder and Managing Director of CUBE HR. I’m a straight talking northern lass with over 21 years’ experience in HR, and I still genuinely love what I do.
For me, HR doesn’t need to be stuffy, complicated or full of jargon. I love employment law, but I’m passionate about making it simple and practical so our clients understand exactly what it means for their business. Having worked across all sorts of sectors over the years, there isn’t much I haven’t come across!
I’m a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, with a Master’s in Human Resource Management and an MBA. But qualifications aside, I think great HR is about understanding people, finding practical solutions and giving businesses the confidence to make good decisions.
That’s exactly what we do at CUBE. We help businesses tackle their people challenges with straightforward, effective HR support, while creating workplaces where people can thrive. We don’t just want our clients to be compliant; we want to help them become brilliant places to work.
Outside of HR, my family is the most important thing to me, and I’m mum to a 12 year old daughter. I also firmly believe work should be enjoyable, something that’s reflected in CUBE’s approach. Professional HR expertise without the boring bits!
Claire Brockbank
Hi, I’m Claire, A director of CUBE HR and part of the CUBE HR family since May 2019 – I honestly can’t think of anything else I’d rather be doing! Aside from my passion for HR, my world revolves around my family, friends and my Lurcher, Nelson. I’ve loved everything horse related since I was a kid and I’m also a water baby and love chilling out in a bath, hot tub or spa!
I live my life by the value that kindness costs nothing, life can be challenging so why make it harder by being mean to others. My burning desire is to buy old buildings and renovate them to provide accommodation for homeless people.
I love people – understanding what makes them tick and how to effectively communicate. I have a very active brain that loves solving even the most seemingly complex problems – and believe me CUBE have seen some very strange and complex problems! I am DiscFlow accredited and the reports and processes fascinate me, they’re scarily accurate and have helped me to be a better leader for my team and identify with the clients and teams that I support.
I’ve been told by my clients that I’m the nicest HR person they’ve ever met – a dubious accolade but one I’ll take none-the-less!
Sharlene Spence
Hi, I’m Sharlene and I joined CUBE HR in June 2022 as an HR Administrator.
With over 10 years’ experience in customer-focused retail roles, followed by payroll and administration positions, I’ve always enjoyed working with and supporting people. This passion is what led me to a career in HR, where no two days are ever the same.
As a mum of four, I bring a caring, understanding, and approachable nature to my role. I believe everyone deserves to be treated fairly and with respect, and I enjoy helping others find positive solutions when challenges arise.
I love learning and developing my HR knowledge, and I’m currently expanding my skills through mediation training to help support positive communication and workplace relationships. Being part of the CUBE HR team has been a fantastic experience, and I’m excited to continue learning and growing in my career.
Lauren Rigby
Hi I’m Lauren, I’ve worked in HR since leaving university 11 years ago and have worked across TA generalist HR and Employee Relations both in the UK and Down Under (Australia). I am a proud mum to my little girl and fur baby.
Outside of work I am a keen traveler having visited far off places like Fiji ,Bali and Singapore, and lived worked and travelled in Australia for 5 years too. I also love to read and have been known to have 2 or 3 books on the go at one time! That and my guilty pleasure is watching Grey’s Anatomy (every single episode all 464 of them to date!)
I have just finished my CIPD Level 7 qualification I was completing whilst pregnant, on maternity and on my return to work after maternity leave, demonstrating my commitment to CPD. I am a huge advocate for wellbeing and putting people at the heart of decision making and being a little bit nosey by nature I truly like to get to the bottom of HR related problems to get the best outcomes for everybody.
Laura Grimshaw
Hi, I’m Laura, a consultant at CUBE HR. I’m a nurturing, supportive HR professional who truly believes that even in the most difficult situations, there is always a human way to do HR. Whether someone is facing a disciplinary process or navigating change at work, I believe everyone deserves to be treated with dignity, compassion, and fairness. Clear processes and honest conversations matter, but so does respect.
I’m a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community (the L!), and inclusion is something I care deeply about, both professionally and personally. My partner also works in HR, which means we have some very interesting debates at home. Outside of work, our little girl Millie is the center of our universe… did I mention she’s a dog?
I also proudly support the Young Oncology Unit at The Christie Hospital in Manchester, an incredible place that supported me during my teens and continues to do amazing work for young people.
I’m currently completing my CIPD Level 7 in Human Resource Management and take great pride in everything I do. I always aim to give 110%, to be honest, and to say when I don’t have the answer, and then go and find it.
Sophie Naulty
Hi, I’m Sophie and I’m the marketing apprentice here at CUBE HR.
I’ve always had a real passion for social media and content creation. Before joining CUBE, I spent 5 and a half years helping to run a cafe alongside my parents, where I looked after the social media as well as being involved in the day -to- day operation of the business. This has given me lots of experience in building a brand and understanding what gets people to stop scrolling.
Outside of work I’m a big foodie and I love trying new restaurants on my wish list. I am also obsessed with coffee and am a sucker for an oat flat white anytime of the day. I also am a huge car lover and have recently purchased my dream car… a Porsche! Me and my husband also love taking our 2 Welsh sheepdogs on nice long walks in our free time.
I’m currently completing my level 3 multi- channel marketing apprenticeship which gives me the chance to learn the full range of areas that marketing covers. I’m excited to build on the experience I already have, develop new skills and put what I’m learning into practice here at CUBE.

Hola, I’m Haj
I’m someone who genuinely loves making a positive difference in people’s lives, whether that’s in the workplace or beyond. I’m a firm believer in kindness, love and the little things that can make someone’s day a little brighter!
Outside of work, whether it’s exploring nature through hikes and trails, playing Padel & Pilates or watching the sunrise – I like to make every moment with my family and friends special. I’m also a big foodie!
I transitioned into HR from Law around 4 years ago, following an experience with an HR manager that, although negative, inspired me to pursue a HR career where i can make a difference and create a more positive HR experience for employees.. and completed my Level 7 CIPD Human Resource Management along the way!
For me, HR is about more than policies and procedures; it’s about people, empathy and leaving a lasting, positive impression on someone’s working life
Ruth Law
Hi, I’m Ruth, and I joined CUBE HR in Autumn 2026.
My career has spanned a variety of sectors, including hospitality and events management, mental health law compliance, and, most recently, an NHS-based HR Advisor role. Fairness, compassion, and integrity are at the heart of everything I do, and I strive to bring these values into my work every day.
I hold a BA (Hons) in Health and Social Care and am currently working towards my CIPD Level 5 qualification. I’m excited to begin this new chapter with such a knowledgeable, supportive, and caring team, and I look forward to building strong relationships with our diverse client base.
A little more about me: I enjoy crafts, spending time outdoors, and I’m lucky enough to live on an alpaca farm, which certainly keeps life interesting!
