Watch our demonstration on what to do when an employee doesn’t want to return
Employees will have different concerns about returning to work
If an employee doesn’t want to return take time to understand their concerns
Work with them where possible, but be prepared to take action
As your business starts to return employees to the workplace following a period of furlough or home-working you’re likely to come across various objections to returning.
What do you do when an employee doesn’t want to return, no matter what you say?
In the fourth of our Monday Mode sessions, we’ve demonstrated a one-on-one return to work meeting where we discuss and deal with the most common employee concerns such as:
- Anxiety about catching COVID-19
- Health & Safety concerns
- Childcare problems
- Travel to and from work on public transport
- Shielding family members concern
- Appointments and social engagements
Ultimately, if you’ve done your best to alleviate concerns and put in place safety measures and still your employee doesn’t want to return, you may have to resort to disciplinary action, but you should of course do all you can first to ensure this is not necessary.
Do you have questions about how to handle that reluctant employee?
Give us a call at CUBE HR, we’ll be happy to advise you and we have policies and templates available to meet every HR need.
