At CUBE HR we believe in doing things the right way and treating people how we would like to be treated ourselves. In living out those values we aim to support people and organisations in our community. Specifically, we want to support local charities and this year we have chosen to support Advocacy Focus.
Who are Advocacy Focus and what do they do?
Advocacy Focus make a positive difference to the lives of many people in our community who need to have their voices heard. The organisation’s team of Advocates help people in the community who have difficulty with communicating their views, needs and wishes. These people may also face difficulties with making decisions about things such as how or where they are cared for.
The organisation’s services help people to understand their rights, their options, and this then enables them to make informed decisions. From assisting vulnerable adults to advocating for children in need, Advocacy Focus truly transforms lives. You can find out more about advocacy in this short video.
Our challenge
In order to raise funds to support Advocacy Focus’ vital work the CUBE HR team are taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge on Monday 3 June. This challenge is more than just a stroll in the countryside. The team will walk over 24 miles and climb over 5000ft up the three peaks of Pen-y-Ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside. These peaks form part of the Pennine range and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble in the Yorkshire Dales. The walk typically takes 9-12 hours to complete and is a real test of both physical endurance and mental strength.
Justine Forster, CEO at Advocacy Focus, said, “This fundraiser will make such a difference to the lives of people we support and help us to continue our vital community advocacy work. Every donation we receive will go straight into our services and will support people that need our help when it comes to their health and social care needs.”
Fundraising
The CUBE HR team has set itself a fundraising target of £1000. If you are able to make a donation, no matter how big or small, towards reaching that target it would be hugely appreciated by both CUBE HR and Advocacy Focus.
